Weener Plastics in the UK, based in North Walsham, Norfolk, manufactures injection moulded caps and closures for the food, beverage, personal care and industrial sectors, supplying impressive blue chip brand owners.  Employing approximately 70 people, this already successful and well invested £multi-million p.a. business is poised for further growth through the development of innovative new products and market development.

Forming part of the site leadership team, as Quality Manager your challenge will be to take ownership, drive and further develop systems and processes, practical tools and techniques to ensure improvement, standardisation and consistency across Quality and EHS to exceed customer and legislative demands.  With a practical, hands-on approach, your remit will include:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the company’s QHSE management system and proposing improvements.
  • The management, development and motivation of a small quality team.
  • Driving a proactive quality culture throughout the business through education and training.
  • Delivering a continuous improvement, problem solving approach using tools such as route cause, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa etc.
  • Achieving improvement in customer complaints, waste and cost of quality.
  • To become involved in ensuring that safety policies and procedures are implemented, understood and adhered to.
  • Promoting best practice policies and processes in response to legislation and customer demands.
  • To lead the implementation of ISO14001.

Ideally educated to Degree level or equivalent, and with membership of a relevant professional body (CQI etc), candidates will have a strong Quality improvement background, gained in a high-volume manufacturing environment e.g. packaging, medical, FMCG, automotive, aerospace etc.  We are seeking to attract candidates who are open to developing HSE skills, knowledge and education, with a view to taking a broader role on site.

With strong leadership and coaching skills, you must be able to demonstrate the practical implementation of lean tools and techniques to deliver tangible improvements and drive culture change.  With a working knowledge of ISO9001, 14001 and BRC, or similar, you will also be an experienced auditor (internal and external).
