Sika AG, a CHF 8 billion t/o p.a. Swiss Market Index (SMI) listed company, is a globally active speciality chemicals company offering a comprehensive range of products including waterproofing systems, sealing, bonding and speciality mortars etc. across many construction and associated sectors. The business employs over 1000 people in the UK across 4 legal entities: Sika, Everbuild Building Products, Incorez and Enewall. As a result of approved, £multi-million investment which will triple output, over the next 5 years, at the Wishaw site, a unique opportunity has arisen for an ambitious production professional to help transform the plant and build the Sika culture at this key strategic site.
The 5.5-acre Wishaw site manufactures dry building mortars for the building/construction sector through blending, mixing and packing processes. It is highly automated and, with a turnover approaching £10m p.a., employs 30 people working a 2 shift/5-day system.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for production performance, through two shift Supervisors, focusing on streamlining production processes, reducing plant downtime and delivering KPIs. Key to success will be the appointee’s ability to manage, motivate, and develop a cohesive team to improve production performance whilst volumes increase significantly. Strong leadership skills and the ability to engage the team to achieve common goals, share in success and develop a safe, continuous improvement environment, will be paramount.
Candidates will ideally be educated to degree level with a strong production management background gained in a high-volume, manufacturing environment e.g., chemical, plastics, construction products, packaging, FMCG, food etc. The appointee must have a sound understanding of Health, Safety & Environment and with proven KPI improvement success, the role requires exceptional and demonstrable leadership skills, the ability to drive culture change and improve results.
