Berry Global, is a plastic and recycled packaging industry leader.  This innovative and successful Group operates over 290 manufacturing facilities worldwide and employs over 48,000 individuals.   Berry Superfos in Corby is a leading manufacturer of thermoformed PP and PET containers for an impressive, blue chip customer base in fresh chilled and ambient food markets.  Employing in excess of 120 people, with a turnover of £18m p.a. and operating 24/7, its success in innovation and penetrating new markets has resulted in profitable volume growth which is set to continue.

Reporting to the UK Regional Director, the Plant Manager will assume operational P&L responsibility, delivering overall business objectives focused on volume growth and profit, whilst ensuring unrivalled levels of safety and operational performance.    This role will encompass responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business, providing leadership and focus to a dedicated team across Manufacturing, Health & Safety, Planning, Purchasing and Human Resources, with dotted line responsibility for Internal Sales and Finance, with a broad remit which will include:

  • Leading, engaging and inspiring the team to ensure objectives are met, identifying opportunities for further training and development, driving an inclusive team working culture and ensuring the company’s “Can Do” attitude continues.
  • Helping to ensure the site achieves its required profitability by exceeding annual budgeted operating profit targets, showing year on year improvement.
  • The improvement of efficiencies and optimum production levels, identifying opportunities for automation and capital investment, in line with anticipated volume growth.
  • Continuing to drive operational excellence, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.

Degree calibre, candidates will have a proven plant/factory management/operational/manufacturing background gained in a high volume, complex manufacturing environment e.g. packaging, plastics, paper, FMCG, food, automotive etc.   Thermoforming or other plastics processing experience would be advantageous as will an engineering-based aptitude.

An accomplished leader with a hands-on approach, and excellent communication skills, you will demonstrate energy and enthusiasm achieving success through inspiring teams to engage and contribute.
