Our Client is a rapidly expanding, highly acquisitive, Global manufacturer of speciality chemicals offering an impressive and comprehensive range of products for the construction and associated sectors. Employing over 1000 people across 4 sites in the UK the role offers a high level of autonomy to effect change in this dynamic and ‘fast paced’ organisation.
An experienced and ambitious procurement professional is required to assess, develop and further implement robust, innovative, best practice, procurement strategy to meet the demands of a complex supply chain and customer base which will add value and efficiency to the UK business. Reporting to the Head of Operations UK and with a team of 7 Buyers, you will control a budget in excess of £150m p.a. across direct (including commodity and speciality chemicals and raw materials) and indirect goods, services and capital equipment, in markets where demand is high and price competitive.
You will provide guidance and leadership to drive exceptional performance by working closely with your team on strategic negotiation, cost reduction and dual/alternative sourcing to secure supply to support sustained business growth and continual NPD activity. You will ensure that existing global supplier relationships are strong, as well as constantly evaluating the markets for potential new suppliers. Working with the Corporate Procurement Team, you will consider Group global sustainability plans and link this into the UK procurement strategy, to help deliver targets around the use of recycled products and a reduction in plastic packaging.
Ideally educated to Degree level, with CIPS qualifications, candidates must have proven strategic procurement experience gained in a highly complex, multiple SKU, multi-national, manufacturing environment. Experience in chemical, FMCG or packaging would be advantageous. Agile and resilient, you will have strong experience in change leadership, commodity risk management and excellent contract development and strategic negotiation skills. With a desire to challenge and improve, your adaptable and flexible approach to leadership and management, excellent communication and influencing skills will enthuse those around you.
