My Client is an international manufacturer of protective packaging materials used in a wide range of applications, ranging from food and consumer packaging to highly technical, industrial, and engineering markets. With a long-term focus on sustainability and products which are fully recyclable, it has an excellent reputation for innovation and exceptional customer service and is continuing to invest in state-of-the-art production facilities, which provide the cornerstone for the company’s success.

A General Manager is now required to assume full P&L responsibility for a well – established  packaging materials conversion site in the North West, which employs c40 people and operates on a 24hr/5day shift system. The site is profitable and stable therefore the objective of the new incumbent will be to maintain the leadership, trust and teamworking ethic which has been built with the workforce and encourage flexibility to produce new generation products as the company continues its development of environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials. The role offers the opportunity to continue to improve operational efficiencies, while providing strategic and practical guidance to the sales function involving interaction with both existing and potential new customers.

Ideally degree qualified, with a history of general/operational management success, candidates will preferably have held previous P&L responsibility, with both strong operational and commercial expertise and the ability to lead and support sales activity. With a proven talent for increasing profits through efficiency improvement, you will be well versed in driving and developing CI strategies through the use of Lean tools and techniques. An energetic and engaging personality and absolute integrity, loyalty and trustworthiness are prerequisites for this key role. Ideally candidates will preferably have experience in a polymer extrusion, or similar web-based process industry e.g. paper, board, films, or a packaging convertor. This position will appeal to established General Managers or provides an excellent career development opportunity for an Operations or Commercial Manager/Director to move into their first P&L responsible role.
