An exceptional career development opportunity has arisen for a talented Assistant Plant Manager to head up the state of the art, well invested Wakefield facility, whilst providing a ‘springboard’ for a high potential candidate within the wider global Group.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, your challenge will be to lead a team of 4 Shift Managers and approximately 130 multi-skilled Operators and Engineers, to deliver maximum efficiency and optimum production levels in line with OEE standards. A key focus will be on driving continuous improvement within the business, building on the company’s culture of empowerment and employee participation, driving team performance to achieve stretch targets. Encompassing all aspects of manufacturing, your success will be measured on the impact you have on safety, operational efficiency, customer service and quality.  By identifying, and acting on, opportunities for improvement and cost reduction, you will assist the business in creating value, both internally, and for the customer base.

Degree qualified you will have an impressive track record in manufacturing management, encompassing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques, gained in a progressive, high volume manufacturing environment.  Black Belt training would be of particular interest. This will be combined with exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team, and colleagues, at every level.

Electrical Engineer

Forming part of the central Engineering support team, the Electrical Engineer Process Support will provide electrical engineering advice and support to Ball Beverage Packaging sites across EMEA, driving and operating Engineering best practice.  Your challenging remit will include:

  • Providing Ball EMEA plants with electrical engineering technical expertise, support and project management skills to ensure site objectives are achieved.
  • Utilising electrical engineering skills to ensure optimum utilisation is achieved in line with objectives and priorities.
  • Developing competencies around electrical controls associated with Ball Packaging machinery, understanding site electrical power and distribution systems.
  • Supporting sites in the design and selection of electrical motors; design of electrical installations; fault finding and problem solving; PLC programming; construction and design of PLC networks etc.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practice with Electricians and Engineers at all manufacturing facilities.

A Degree qualified Electrical Engineer, you will have proven electrical engineering experience gained in a high volume, complex manufacturing environment.  Your background will include strong experience of Rockwell and Siemens PLC programming, and evidence of electrical engineering best practice, ideally with a good knowledge of current automation and energy reduction technologies.

Procurement Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join Berry Global, a plastic and recycled packaging industry leader. Following acquisition of RPC, this combined successful Group generates sales in excess of $13 billion p.a. from over 290 operations worldwide. 

PLASgran is part of the Berry BPI Division, a $1.3bn turnover business offering a wide range of plastics technologies from blown flexible film to injection moulding. With a turnover of £35m p.a., PLASgran has seen exponential growth over the last 5 years, and with further investment, high quality service levels and added value focus, this dynamic and ambitious market leader in rigid recycled plastics is poised for further significant growth. 

As a result, a talented Procurement Specialist is required to join the onsite senior management team, to assume responsibility for managing purchasing strategy and all raw material purchasing on behalf of PLASgran.  

You will take the lead on developing relationships with existing suppliers of waste plastics whilst sourcing new supplier opportunities, developing supply partnerships with multi-national waste management companies, local authorities and standalone suppliers of post-consumer recycled plastics, in the UK and internationally, whilst identifying emerging supply markets. 

To underpin the above, you will develop best practice systems and processes, leading a small team of Administration and field purchasing personnel, demonstrating a practical hands on approach to ensure KPI objectives are met and exceeded.

Educated to a good standard, you must be able to demonstrate experience in both strategic and hands on procurement, within a plastics recycling or waste management environment. Your communication and negotiation skills will be combined with experience of process and systems improvement, and a commitment to leading and developing your team. Candidates with a strong commercial, business development or supply chain background in waste management, will also be considered.

Our client is part of a global, privately-owned, industrial chemical Group which is continuing to drive growth, through continuous innovation and a strong product portfolio, to service a diverse customer base.

A rare opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Plant Management professional to join the Senior Management Team at a multi-product, inorganic chemical manufacturing site, in West Yorkshire, which is well invested and the subject of further major capital investment, linked to new product introductions. This COMAH site operates on a 24/7 basis and employs 90-100 people.

Reporting to the Managing Director and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, your objective will be to provide operational focus and practical support to successfully deliver the 5-year strategic plan and £multi-million capital investment, whilst developing a sustainable and ongoing CI strategy to drive process and systems improvements.

Your broad remit will include:

  • The management, modernisation, team motivation and development of multi-shift, manufacturing, engineering and maintenance functions.
  • Delivering maximum efficiencies and optimum production levels, ensuring repeatability and sustainability.
  • Identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • The strategic and successful growth of the site, focusing on operational excellence and profit maximisation.
  • Liaising with all major stakeholders, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of capital investment programmes.
  • Leading, engaging and inspiring the team to ensure objectives are met, identifying opportunities for further training and development and succession planning.

Applicants should be Degree level qualified in a Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering discipline, with a strong manufacturing/operational management background, gained in a highly regulated, 24/7, bulk commodity chemical, (ideally Top Tier COMAH), manufacturing environment. Candidates will ideally have experience of working internationally and language ability (or the willingness to learn) would be advantageous.

An accomplished people manager with a hands-on approach, and excellent communication skills, you will demonstrate energy and enthusiasm achieving success through inspiring teams to engage and contribute.
